Lyctic and Lysogenic Cycles

Lyctic cycle: The lyctic cycle is one of the methods viruses use in order to reproduce. It results in the destruction of the host cell, when conditions are right for the bacteria. Bacteriophages go through this.

Lysogenic cycle: The virus inserts its genetic material into the host cell's DNA. The virus lays low for a bit, then, when conditions allow it, the host cell is destroyed and copies of the virus come out. The HIV virus does this.
